Cebrebral Palsy

{My name is Erica Stigall I am 10 year old I have Cerbrebral Palsy} 

Cerbrebral Palsy is an umbrella term for describing a group of chronic and impair a person's abillity to control body movement and posture. These disorders result from injury to the motor areas of the brain. Cerebral paslsy affects two to six infants out of every 1,000 births(its the most common handicapped disorder in the U.S.). it may occur while the infant is still in the womb or after birth and is usually not detectable during a child's first year of life . Patients with mid cerbral palsy may only have a minor limp or uncoordinated walk while patients with servere cases will require care and supervision thoughout their lives. About 75 percent of infants born with Cerbrebral Palsy experience some degree of mentral reardation.

THERE SYMPTOMS INCULUDE:

Diffculty with fine motor skills, such as writing and using scissors

Involuntary muscle movents, Difficlty to sit up and control her neck

Difficlty to maintaining balance and walking

Hearing loss

Vision defects such as crossing-eyes

Speech difficlty 

Sucking and swallowing problems

Convulsions 

Standing or walking on tiptoes 

Cerebaral palsy may affect one arm or leg all four limbs or any combination of arms and legs. It can affect an entire side of the body or it may only display in the lower extremities.  Whatever the affectedareas may  be, the muscle types involved are often the same. Muscle that enable a person to bend their arms and legs are called flexor muscles. Extensor muscles are the opposite of flexors and enable a person to straighten these limbs back out.
